It allows communication between FS9 and lets outside programs, certain modules, and some gauges work properly

Taken from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html

[quote]It is an essential ingredient in many add-on FS programs, and, in fact, may be installed on your system by any one or more of them already. For many such programs you do not need to actually purchase FSUIPC. That deal, for their access, will often have been already done by the add-on program makers.

But, in addition, FSUIPC contains a number of useful features for you, the Flight Simulator user, features that can assist you setting up the best simulation environment and making the best of what you have. It can do this because, by its very nature as an interface program, as a

in simple words, it enables access to many advanced parameters in FS that are unavailable from the UI

imagine that FS is an egg (yes, an egg) with only so many controls poking out of the shell
what FSUIPC does is to basically reach inside the eggshell and bring out the more advanced stuff that you couldn't get to before ;)

so programs that run based on FSUIPC are able to manipulate FS in a much deeper level, making programs such as ArrestorCables possible

there's more to it if you read the above list
