I'd check the Microsoft Flight Simulator Official homepage, on the insider section, here:

http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsi ... survey.asp

I won't advise any action, its completely up to you (I don't want to infest your computer with spyware or anything).

I am part of the survey I got a letter from Microsoft giving me a ID to logon with and a program to install that gathers info while you fly. Form what I can see it does not appear to effect frame rates at least not on my system. At the end of your flight it takes you to the log on pafe where you fill out a questionare.
What do you want to know?

Survey? This is not a survey.
A survey should simply ask some (many?) questions.

Why the FS-9 "spyware"
Does MS believe that people would lie is they answered questions?

It's a fact of human nature that any time you monitoir some facit of someones behaviour, the behaviour changes and you really don't get a clear picture of it.

Is MS truly wants a clear Pic of the FS comunity, a true survey is in order.
What they now offer is FS-9 spyware any way you look at it!

I signed p for this, downloaded and installed the software, and it messed my TrackIR software all up, now I can't use TrackIR for some reason, even after I uninstalled the survey software.  :(

..mm....to actually INVITE anybody to install what amounts to spyware on your machine is IMHO to say the least, unwise...........your machine ..your choice...........commoner ;)

It's amazing! I've been watching 3 major FS message boards and the reaction to the survey includes accute paranoia, conspiracy theorists, etc., etc. (maybe from watching too much CNN)

There's no doubt many of the detractors are devout MS (the Evil Empire) bashers. They're usually pretty obvious.

I think the MS FS Team (they are somewhat independent) may be on the right track in this. As everyone knows, they have never before actively solicited user input, much to the chagrin of the general FS population. I suspect they're experimenting to see what happens.

I for one am participating whole heartedly in the hopes that somewhere down the line it will contribute to improvements in FS and/or the elimination of some of the useless features. FS is already very good and this can only lead to something better -- IMHO.
