My FS9 Keeps locking up

Postby snake » Thu May 05, 2005 10:19 am

This is very annoying and only happens in FS9.  When I switch views using either the "s" key or the button on my joystick I set to use, the game locks up, and all sound cuts out.  I have to reboot to get sound back from anything.  I have updated my FS9.  Please help, the game is completely unplayable and my nephews will "KILL" me if they show up and it wont work, lol. ;)

when did this start happening?

does it happen with all aircraft?

check your recent downloads to see if it isn't any of them thats causing this

also, check your CPU and video card coolers, sometimes they tend to build up dust inside, and then they are brought to a grinding halt (twice i had that :P), then the processor heats up and locks

It happens in all aircraft, in all locations.  It used to happen very intermittently, now it happens all the time.  I have not installed any aircraft, only some very small add on scenery of Mackinac Island Michigan.  I will delete it and see if it cures it.

I just ran dxdiag and it said I have version 9.0c and everything is working fine.

Weird. Your computer specs are fine. Nice system.
Have you run a virus/spyware check too - though I doubt this will be any source of the problem.

well ,I got rid of the Mackinac Island scenery and it seems to work fine.  I have no idea why a scenery file not in use at the time would cause this, but whatever.  it worked!

on a side note, there are some places in FS that are very boring to look at.  I just flew from KSTC to KTVC, st cloud MN to Traverse City MI and the scenery was BORING!

LOL, do you live in Northern wisconsin?

I live in MN and I can tell you Northern MN is a really neat area.  My family also spends time in the apostle islands in Lake Superior off the coast of Northern Wisconsin and it is a neat area.  As is the michigan coasts and the Upper Peninsula.
