Visibility distance

Is it possible to change the default visibility distance to say 30 miles permanently? I think the result is much more realistic but I'm fed up going into User Defined weather to set it.

Yup.  Go to alt+e+d (settings, display), and then go into the weather tab.  There, it will say "maximum vis distance", or something like that.  Turn it down to 30 and that's that.
