Right,

I download the RAAF F-18 in a application form, so I didn't need to fiddle around, but, when I load it, FS9 shuts down, so I know think that a module is wrong, so any ideas

The first thing I would check is to make sure it has a .air file and make sure the aircraft cfg file has the name correct. They have to be an exact match CASE matters so jfk and JFK or not the same. 9 out 10 times this is the problem they leave out a - or _ or get the case wrong. 8)
