Favorite One Hour Hops

Postby MIKE JG » Fri Mar 18, 2005 3:24 pm

Last night I flew a nice little one hour(roughly) flight from Phoenix to San Diego with real time and real time weather in a 757.

Belive it or not there is a website dedicated (originally, anyway) to short hops.

http://www.fsdestinations.com/index.php

One of my favorites is Sky Harbor (Phoenix) to Las Vegas in my Beech Baron.

I like flying from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon early in the morning in a turboprop or small twin piston aircraft  :)
Cheers,

Not a bad early morning hop from Miami, Florida, to Cozumel, Mexico. Water most of the way, but a simple approach to keep your brain from working. If you get the Cozumel scenery available here, it's quite a beautiful ride indeed.

Flagstaff AZ., any field, NNW to Grand Canyon and then flying the canyon to Hoover Dam and on into Las Vegas to buzz the strip!! lol  Let the slots hammer me overnight, then a few hours sleep and back again. lol

Never get tired of that one.

I flew down the Grand Canyon to Hoover Dam with another guy on WestCoastATC. He was in a Citation 500 and I was in a Canadair Tutor, quite a fun formation flight. I had actually never found the Hoover dam before, so when I spotted it off to the side and made a low 400 mph pass over it that was really cool!

Well typically I'll pull out my yoke and pedals and get into the WSP multiplayer server (www.wspilots.com) and continue on the hoplist. The flights are somewhere new, so it's got some excitement to it as I'm constantly flying into a different airport, and most hops if I use the right aircraft are around an hour or shorter, though there are some decent long ones as well.

Also of course I'll log into the ACARS portion of the site too so I can be tracked through the flight and all of my flight time is stored on the server.... :-)

Luckily spring break is this coming week, I've lost too much flight time to studying lately... :-(

We fly turboprops exclusively so consider a one-hour flight as long (15 minutes ismore like it)
But, Kaktovik, Barter Island PABA, Alaska to Prudoe Bay, Dead Horse, PASC is about an hour in a B1900D.

FSScreenshots to prove it

P.S. PABA AF2 is available with Ultimate Traffic
