Waterzone Installation

Postby Foxtrot Sport » Wed Mar 16, 2005 7:22 pm

I know you guys are sick of hearing about it, but I'm at dire straits here.

I've just downloaded it for what is about the 3rd time, and still have no clue as to what to do.  Here's how the file is set up when you unzip the original file, it has two folders, one entitled scenery and one texture.

Inisde Texture is a lone file named "OceanHeightField"

Inside Scenery it goes through two more folders, so it looks like this:

Scenery>world>texture

inside that last folder at the end of the line is 13 mb worth of bmp's.

I haven't a clue as to what to do, my first instint was to put them in thier files in the scenery and texture folders of FS9, but that apparently didn't work, so....

Give me your input on this and I swear, i will never mention it again.

Thanx

...mmm....the readme looks pretty straightforward to me but obviously not to you ...I'll try to simplify what it says......  Open the FS9 main folder and then the TEXTURE folder and put the OceanHeightsField file in there.....Back in the Main FS9 folder open the SCENERY folder then the WORLD folder then the TEXURE folder and put all those bmps into there....overwrite when asked and that's it.
..........Be sure to make backups of your original files in case you don't like the effect.
It works best with water slider set to high.....commoner

There's a readme that comes with it?  My "fs9 downloads" folder is so jampacked it might of over written another one.

Are there any other good water effects packages that would work with my vid card  (Geforce MX 440).  If so thanx for the help.

I may be wrong, but I dont think any of the water textures will work with an MX card, because MX cards do not support DX9  ???

Yes actually, with a MMX 440, even with the water effects on high you just get old boring defult texture (the dark blue right benife the aircraft) but as you can see the water reflects and the "seaweed" as clipper calls it (:D)  moves like waves and the sun is reflected in the water but it just wasn't in the shots :)
