Small Question

Postby Hai Perso Coyone? » Thu Mar 03, 2005 11:55 am

Hi all,
I finally got FS2k4 after months of waiting and trying to make up my mind. I had small question. I read the sticky above stating the update. My question is that do i need CD4 in the disk drive or just the *.exe file? I have not yet installed FS and was wondering if its needed just out of curiosity. for some reason my CD's tend to keep getting scratched like hell.

thanks all,
Ashar ;D 8)

Hi Boeing....After you have installed FS9 there is a Microsoft update you can get which addresses various issues ..get that and you will then have FS9.1 installed. Don't confuse this update with the NO CD .exe file which is a separate thing altogether and which allows you to use the Sim WITHOUT the Cd in the drive....there are two versions of this NOCD depending on whether you have done the update so you need the right one ..On this page is a post re the NOCD patch..look there and I have posted a couple of links to this ...when you have it...just exchange it for the one in your MAIN FS9

...Hi Ash ..here's the method.......1. Download and save the Update file fs91upd.exe to your Flight Simulator 2004 directory. (For example, C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9.)

If you are using the No CD crack then you will have to put the original Fs9.exe back in before updating with the Microsoft patch. Once your sim is patched you will need to get a different No CD file. The one you originally had was for Fs9.0 and since you now have Fs9.1 you need a different crack. It should be available at the same place you got the original No CD. Check the instructions from Microsoft to see if you need the disk in the drive to run the update but even if you do it'll only be required once to get the sim patched then you will put your No CD file in place of the Fs9_1.exe

......There is one important thing you MUST remember in all this patching stuff and that is..if you need to UNINSTALL FS9 for any reason..you MUST uninstall the Microsoft UPDATE first...do it from add remove programs. Otherwise you could give yourself some grief..commoner ;)
