I don't like the using the GPS in FS9.
Is there anyway I can use the one from 2002 instead?

This would be quite a silly decision mate as the FS9 GPS acts as an FMS too, by activating GPS approaches and planning your flight on it also. Anyway, I don't think it is possible to use the FS2002 GPS in FS9.

Hi,

I was put off FS9 for a long time simply because I thought that the new GPS looked far to complicated, but when I actually sat down & took the time to look at it (about 5 minutes!!), I found out that not only is it quite easy to use, it is also a vast improvement on the FS2002 GPS.

Have a look in 'The Learning Centre' in FS9 & then look for the section named 'How To Use The GPS' - if you scroll down the page there is a short video clip explaining how to use the new GPS - it's a bit cheesy, but very helpful if your impatient (like I am).

It dosen't take long to master the basics of the GPS. Stick with it, not only is the GPS better, but you get the added bonus of FS9 aswell!!!!

If you don't like the planner in fs9 you should get fs navigator . I only have one dislike with the planner in GPS direct it put my flight route though restricted airspace. fs navigator is a good program you might be able to get on untilities it is under flight simulator 98 untilites if it is navigator 3.0 it dosen't have radar on it the newest version does but it is payware for about 40$

IMO, if one takes the $18,000.00 USD worth of GPSs out of FS9 all one has left is FS2k2. The GPSs (G500 & G295) in FS9 is are the only reasons for buying FS9. Print out the 46 page Garmin manual wich shipped with FS9 and study it for six months and you should become pretty handy with it :-)

First off, the darn fs9 garmin 500 should have been fully done as a 530 nav/com.

Since I have used both of the GPSs modeled in FS9 in real life I must say, the operation is quite realistic!

Just take some time, read the lesson and watch the video. Hopefully you'll catch on as fast as I did (about 10 minutes). I'm 39 and have pretty bad memory, if you don't catch on as fast as I did and are not as old as I there is something wrong with you

I wasn't keen on the FS9 GPS at first - but then, flying over a mountainous area, I found out how useful it was to have 'terrain mapping'.
