Show name swa,nwa,fedx,dal,etc

Postby dyfly » Tue Feb 22, 2005 11:40 am

:)Can you change the manufacture name you see above the AI aircraft when it is flying. O yea, go into your aircraft chf file go down to                  ui_manufacture= Aardvark
and change this to the airline name.

ui_manufacture=SWA
ui_manufacture=DAL
ui_manufacture=NWA
ui_manufacture=FEDX
ui_manufacture=COA
ui_manufacture=AAL
ui_manufacture=UAL
etc
etc
etc ;)

Not sure why you would want to do this. I for one do not know of any airline that builds there own airplanes.
But you could try that it might work. But rember that ATC also uses this name to call you on flights that are not part of a flight plan.It is going to sound funny and strange when you call in saying TOWER THIS IS 3298 TYPE DELTA REQUESTING FLIGHT FOLLOWING. Not very realistic. The whole purpose of the manufactuer is so that ATC is aware of what type and make plane you are flying so they can allow for propper spacing in the patterns. 8)

Ok Try the following:
ui_manufacturer=Project SkyWorks
ui_type="717-200"
ui_variation="Delta"
I took this from a project skyworks B717-200
These lines were taken from the aircraft cfg file so that means you would have to change your AI aircraft cfg files.
It should come up as
PROJECT SKYWORKS B717-200
I DONT THINK YOU CAN GET IT TO DISPLAY THE AIRLINE NAME.

:DIt worked. This is what I did to all my CFG file

atc_id=N700MS
atc_parking_Codes=FLG
atc_parking_types=Gate Small
ui_manufacturer=Saab
ui_type=340B
ui_variation=Norwest Airlink  ;D
description=" "
atc_heavy=0
atc_airline=Flag Ship
atc_flight_number=

atc_airline=Fed Ex
atc_flight_number=424
atc_parking_Codes=FDX
atc_parking_types=CARGO
ui_manufacturer=FEDX  ;D
ui_type=727

atc_airline=Fed Ex
atc_flight_number=424
atc_parking_Codes=FDX
atc_parking_types=CARGO
ui_manufacturer=FEDX   ;D
ui_type=727

atc_airline=Fed Ex
atc_flight_number=10
atc_parking_Codes=FDX
atc_parking_types=Cargo
ui_manufacturer=FEDX    ;D
ui_type=DC-10
ui_variation=Fed Ex

atc_airline=Continental
atc_flight_number=1123
atc_parking_Codes=COA
atc_parking_Types=Gate Heavy
ui_manufacturer=COA
ui_type=Boeing 767-400
ui_variation=Continental Airlines

Now by typing in the airline name  only letters example
ui_manufacturer=Coa
ui_manufacturer=DAL
ui_manufacturer=FEDx
ui_manufacturer=AAL
ui_manufacturer=SWA

you will see this now over your AI airplanes instead of McDonald or something like a boeing name.

It works. ;D

dy

It works you will now see what airlines or cargo airplane it is

Right idea but wrong way to do this.If you want ATC and the aircraft tags to identify the aircraft open your FS9 CFG and find these lines.FS9 Main CFG is located Start/My Computer/Local Disk C:/Documents and settings/Your name/Application Data/Microsoft/FS9 and you will find the main CFG in there.Always back up(copy) the original CFG to a safe place before editing anything so if you mess it up you have the original.you need to havve the show hidden folders to find the Main CGF as well. The lines of interest to you are :

ShowLabelAirline=0
Change this to
ShowLabelAirline=1
If you would like to see the AI aircrafts flightplan then change this line
ShowLabelAirlineAndFlightNumber=0
change to
ShowLabelAirlineAndFlightNumber=1
To see the aircrafts Tail # change
ShowLabelTailNumber=0
To
ShowLabelTailNumber=1

As you can see the pattern here and its very easy to do and works for all AI aircraft.Hope this works for you and its alot easier this way as its only 1 entery to change....best of luck

:)Hey, Bent_prop thanks for the info. I did not know you could change this info. I went the long way around. I see now the route you are talking about and like it better.  ;D

When flying around  I could see AI tag over the aircraft I had no ideal what company the aircraft was.
So in the line  ui_manufacturer= swa  I just added this info to it and now I can see the company name.

Ok thanks again. 8)

Bent_prop That will work provided the aircraft cfg file has the propper entry. If it has no entry then it will not display any thing at all. So you at least need to check and make sure there is a entry in the aircraft cfg file.

Just to make certain we are all on the same page the CFG file i was talking about is NOT the aircraft CFG file but the Main FS CFG file.  ;D

Correct
What I am talking about is I have downloaded planes in the past that does not have any entries in the aircraft cfg file for the manufactuer or type. So even though the FS9 cfg file has been changed it still will not show anything for that airplane because there is no entry in the aircraft cfg file.
If the manufactuer line in the aircraft cfg file is misssing or blank like ui_manufactuer=
Than you will not see any thing.

1.click on Flight Simulator 9
2.click on Aircraft folder
3.then click on any aircraft folder you will see the folder
model,panel texture,sound, air file and you will see the Aircraft CFG File open it up you will see
