Sonic..  NO...you  have to do the whole thing over for EVERY SINGLE area.. by that I mean EVERY SINGLE DOWNLOAD...each NA area for example has it's OWN folder ...there won't be any impact on the sim but it will take time to load up especially if you   elect to  empty the scenery cache when closing the sim...that is an option on the scenery library screen..commoner ;)
 Image

This for example is the .bgl for Chicago area and has it's own personal scenery folder..got it now..commoner

SRTM (my apologies, its not STRM)

Nice try

But THIS is the terrain mesh for Chicago ( i had to do it ;D)

the SRTM terrain is available for free here, and if you plan to use the terrain, i suggest you first getting the map, the file called cover.zip (it's the bkgd of the above image). now I'm in the process of loading the mesh into flightsim, because throwing it into the addon scenery folder didn't work. once i figure it out, i'll post a picture tutorial for all to see. have a nice day!

I'm planning to purchase the FS Genesis scenery after my next payday. I have downloaded a demo and it looks terrific [even for a demo].

1. Create a folder for each section in the Flight Simulator scenery
folder. For example, create a folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Games\FS2002\Scenery\SRTM-NA. In this folder, create another \Scenery
folder. Unzip all the downloaded files that start with 'NA' into this
folder. Thus, you should end up with a path like C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\Scenery\SRTM-NA\Scenery\NA01N10W110.bgl.

oh ok commener This is what confused me. Iwas reading the readme on the site and it said all files so I wasnt sure. Thanks I havent tried it yet getting ready too.

In states like Washington it is well worth it but here in Florida, it is pretty useless ;D (florida is a very flat state, the highest point it some 300ft ASL).

I just want to make sure I'm right about this.  By 70m-that means that every "pixel (or whatever)" in the mesh equils 70 meters right?  I downloaded the freeware fsgenesis mesh from avsim (for the West Coast and The Rockies) and it was 38.2m-so that would be higher resolution and therefore better secenery-correct?  (As you can see, I haven't done this in quite some time).

Anyway, I think I'll use what I have in the area's I have it and fill in the rest of the world with the Global Terrain Mesh (when I get the time).

I have spent a lot of time downloading Global Terrain Mesh Scenery for fs 2004.  I have followed both the read me file i.e. create folder within add-on scenery, create sub folder called scenery and place bgl files with same leader name eg 'AF' open fs2004 and add scenery to library and restarted program.  Scenery looks no different to default for the UK region (which I have downloaded).  Have also tried according to some posts here creating separate folders for each bgl and a scenery folder within each and placed bgl file into this.  Done this with all UK, deleted previous UK addon and added new setup.  Restarted and still no difference.  I have mesh files from a different source installed and they work ok with exeption to some lakes and runways being elevated so I know how to install.  I have deleted these UK meshes from library when adding Global Terrain but still nothing.

Does this definately work? as Im not going to download 9GB of meshes and have no difference to the default

Thanks in advance
