Directory Help

Postby BadPvtDan » Fri Jan 28, 2005 10:24 am

I am pretty new to FS 9 and here is my problem. I feel like my FS 9 directory structure is all over the place. I have add-on scenery in the /addonscenery file as well as the /scenery/world file. Now I'm looking at things that need a Landclass folder (with no texture folder) LOL

Where are all these things really supposed to go? Where are all the afcads supposed to be? How about the flight plans themselvs? It seems as if I am seeing them everywhere:)

Any help or insight or a direction would really be helpful. Thanks!

With scenery add-ons read http://www.simviation.com/lair/fs2004sc.htm
With AFCAD and Traffic Tools head down to our AFCAD/TTools forum for all the answers to your questions on those matters ;)

What I do is put any added scenery in the addon scenery folder I will make a folder with a meaningfull name example if the scenery i am about to add is for Denver than I name the folder Denver. Not all scenery folders need a texture folder only if there is texture for that area. Scenery and textures are two different types of files. If you are seeing added on scenery in the scenery folder than you must have either downloaded or unzipped a file straight into FS9. I would strongly suggest not doing that, I made two folders one called HANGER for aircraft and one called tempscene for scenery I download and unzip into these folders than move the files to where they belong cleaning up any unwanted files in the process.
A lot of scenery files will come with a texture folder but no texture in them I just delete them why have a empty folder on your hard drive.
If you download or unzip straight into fs9 it can make duplicate folders which can cause all kinds of problems.
