Lightning !

Postby z1010 » Fri Dec 31, 2004 5:42 am

After many years of flying seen for the first time: lightning!

Flying in Bolivia I came in a thunderstorm with severe turbulence and the sound of thunder. But for the first time I saw lightning.

Didn't know it was possible.

I like FS9 !

Go fly in Alaska this time of year.  I was there the other day and had everything! Snow, thunder and lightning and turbulance that was making my plane roll onto its back!

I found it kinda weird.... I never flew through lightning in real life (and I hope I never have to, thunder scares the @#$% outta me  :-[). Is the sound/looks of the lightning/thunder realistic? I know it sounds much different in FS than how it sounds from the ground...

Well, you can hardly hear thunder inside a plane with the engine running and a headset on but at least it looks realistic in FS9. I changed all of the thunder sound files so they were very quiet and it really made it more realistic. BTW why does thunder scare you DiveBomber189? I've never understood why anyone would be scared of thunder...

Pretty close. You can doenload a lightning package that was made using real lightning photos that really makes it realistic!

I guess Divebomber is not afraid of thunder, but of lightning.

I have lowered the sound level of the engines, and put the sound of the environment to the max. Now I can hear thunder and sometimes the wind.
And yes, I like the sound.

... download a lightning package? Here, on simviation?

If you've got a subwoofer in your sound system somewhere, the thunder is AWESOME!
Great edit, Bob.
