no joy with fs02 connie in fs04

Postby beaky » Fri Dec 24, 2004 7:23 pm

Just tried to install Rick Wooton's Super Constellation from this site, but it doesn't show up in my (FS9) menu. Is it me, or is this one just not compatible with FS9?

how did it install? Via installer?

sometimes these installers put the files into odd folders, if this is the case your best bet is to install to a temp folder...

Not sure what else, perhaps I'll d/l the plane and try it in my 04 just to see what happens... ;-)

Just followed the ReadMe... extracted everything into the FS9 Aircraft folder, then put the gauges into the Gauges folder. It's there in the Aircraft Folder, but not in the drop-down aircraft menu in the isim interface.

In your aircraft menu is there a Lockheed selection? If so it might be located there.

Wot the smurf? Of course I looked there... AND in "unspecified". Thanks, though.  I take it from the responses that others are using this one in FS9 also (it's from the 2002 list)?

I did a search for Wooton Constellation & it came up with this. http://www.simviation.com/fs2002vintage16.htm
From the file description it's Mike Stone's original Super Connie repainted by Rick Wooton.

Some FS2002 aircraft might not be fully compatible with FS9 but providing they're installed correctly I see no reason why they wouldn't be listed on the selection menu. To find out which categories they will be listed under open Aircraft.cfg in Notepad & check out the ui_manufacturer= , ui_type= , & ui_variation= entries.

PS. You might also like to check out Sound.cfg. It's just possible the sound is aliased to the FS2002 default Vought Corsair which is not included with FS9. In this case re-alias to another aircraft like the Douglas_DC3.

Thanks Hagar- I found the original Stone file, and now all is well with my Connie. Added the Air L'Azur repaint fromJoao Paz and now she is tres belle... funny thing, though- the flaps work, but are not seen as deployed in the external views. Whatever- one couldn't see them in flight from the cockpit anyway- small price to pay for such a gorgeous model! Thanx again, and thanx especially for not "going Smurf" on me... ;D

Glad you fixed it. There are obviously several different versions of that Connie. I tried the FS9 version from Mike Stone's site. The flaps display fine on that as you can see.

Depends what you want. Repaints for older versions will probably be no use for this one.

This is odd... when I say the flaps function, I mean that I see the indication on the panel. Just tried taking off w/full flaps then retracting them just after rotation, and really didn't notice anything. It seems they're just not there. When I switch to the original Mike Stone version, I get the same result. Guess I ought to try re-installing this one. Either way, the Joao Paz repaint is beautiful...Image

For a very nice standard 049 Connie please go here.
www.fsdzigns.com.

Also here are very nice superconnies, fs9 compatible and a very well done panel.
