Customizing Panels

Postby wilderobb » Tue Nov 16, 2004 9:57 pm

Is it considered ok to customize others panels and offer them here? You see I'v taken to overlaying some panels with a beautifull wood burl, adding trim and touchups, Installing gauges and the like with great results. Their much more pleasing to the eye and add a pesonel touch. I sometimes also switch panels from one plane to another. I would like to offer them to others and share.

Ask the authors of the planes via e-mail...I've yet to run into one that won't give permission!

Most won't mind if asked.  If you are using pretty much "Their" panel to overlay your wood grain, then the proper thing to do would be to get their permission and then give them credit for their original panel work. Also, be careful to leave any docs. they want left in the file or docs. the panel needs for proper operation.
