Save flight/Black screen of death

Postby cavity » Mon Nov 08, 2004 1:33 pm

Just recently when I save my flights, the screen turns black and the program becomes non responsive.  The error message says hung application.  This just started recently but I havent changed anything.  Any ideas on how to fix it?  Thanks,Todd

Uhhh . . . sounds like its reinstall time! ::)

I know that doesn't sound like a good solution, but I've found that most of the time, errors of these sorts can't be worked out without a large amount of futzing.  It's usually easier to just uninstall and reinstall.

If you do end up doing this, be sure to use the FS uninstall feature, as it will leave all of your addons alone and just erase everything the original disks installed.  Saves a lot of retweaking and messing with little odd things! ;)

...maybe ought to mention that "the patch has to be uninstalled first(if you have it that is)....or so they say..commoner. ;)

Thank you for the quick replies. Reinstall, havent done that yet, will I lose all my planes and AI traffic or can I back that up and reload?  Todd

Well if you're really concerned about the AI (I think FS will remove that) then just back it up.  Take the file(s) out and put them somewhere like your desktop.

But FS will not remove the addon aircraft or scenery.  It always stays right there.  It only recognizes files that the disks installed, so there's no worry about that.  In fact, when you reinstall, I believe the addon scenery will simply reinstall itself.  No need to reinsert it in the list!
