Postby jrpilot » Tue Nov 02, 2004 3:46 pm

Has anyone noticed that when landiong and looking off to the side a the aircraft it seems as though the groud is going by so slowwwwww...insted of when you see a real aircraft landing from a windowview it seems as though the grounbd is going by very fast..or is it just me

It might be just you, though a 2d screen doesnt help your brain to percieve depth.

I bought some 3d glasses and they are great when it comes to landing helis.

Try landing and looking out in 3d view. It might seem faster because you get a more realistic visual depth and perception (the amount you can see in terms of the width of your vision).

A wider FOV (lower zoom) will yield a greater feeling of speed.

I always fly with both my 2d cockpit and vc zoomed at .65.  The default zoom is REDICULOUS, do not ever use it especially in the vc.  I've never had a problem with my sense of speed, I honestly think I get a great sense of speed in all times of flight, even during cruise.

Sure you're not flying in one giant stall?  :P ;D

i always fly from 3d cockpit with zoom set to .50, i use zoom .75 if i need a closer look at the instruments, it gives you a great sense of speed, specially if you have good fps
If nature wanted a man to fly - It would have given him more money

Isn't .50 a bit too fish-eye for you?  I remember thinking .60 was the least you could go without getting fish-eye... oh well, maybe I thought wrong.
