shut down engines

I don't know exactly which forum to post this, but is there a keystroke to shut down engines.  I know CTRL-E starts engines, but is there a way to shut them down?  I have certain planes that haven't a throttle quadrant in the cockpit so I can't shut the plane off that way.

Hiya. This one is easy...

Go into your controls, then assignments, and look for the one that controls engine shut down, then give it an assigned key or joystick button

That's mixture cutoff I believe, but that will still shut the engine off, naturally.

Ctrl-Shift-E is what I have set up for auto shutdown, I can't remember if it was default or if I assigned it myself.  Best check Controls > Assignments.

The default assignment to shut-down engines is ctrl+shift+f1....

Like Savas says, I assign Cntrl+Shft+E to  the 'Auto engine shutdown' command.

Yes, there is. Go into the key assignment and look for a command that says "fail engine 1-4". you can assign these any way you want. I found that the easiest assignment is shift+1 shift+2 shift+3 shift+4. Remeber that about 5 seconds after you fail the engines to turn hit all the fail buttons again to turn the fail cpmmands off so you can start the engines again  :) (P.S. this does not harm the engines in any way)

It's for safety. A broken or corroded wire can leave your alternators active and if someone pulls on the prop or bumps against it when moving the aircraft around it may fire and injure someone. By cutting the mixture you don't leave any gas in the carb to fire the engine.

Actually, you are thinking of the P-Lead on the magnetos. Even with no battery power and no alternator the aircraft can start if the P-Lead is disconnected. Like some Aeronca Champs, they require hand-propping because there is no battery or starter in the aircraft.
