Hi WL ...in your last post you say something like " learning to activate the approach".........is this some sort of well guarded secret  ::)  or can you tell us (me) just how to do this? I seem to get stuck at a point where I am prompted to "LOAD or ACTVATE" Can't seem to get past that bit. Appreciate your help here... ???

Don't use that option much myself, commoner.  But I think you'll find that if you press 'Enter' a couple of times the Flightplan screen comes up again with the new track shown.

LOAD will load the approach onto your screen, but your aircraft (if nav hold is engaged) will continue to fly its previous GPS course.  This is useful if you want to load up an approach early but dont want to begin tracking it yet.  ACTIVATE will actually delete your previous GPS course and just leave the GPS approach course, which your plane will immediately begin tracking if you have NAV hold on.

The enter button. You may have to click it 2 or 3 times.  Also, if you choose vectors, thats all you get. If you choose to activate approach, you get it overlayed on the moving map. I usually just it the proc button again after I call up the vectors and the select to load the approach and hit enter like 2 or 3 times and then all I need to do is just work the throttles, flaps, gear and trim and grease her right down.

Commoner,

Also note that you can use the outter tuning ring to select/highlite the activate at the "load or activate" option then enter without going through all the enters.

Also of note is if an IAP (initial approach fix) is selected instead of vectors (where avail) then a course is shown to the fix. Depending on the approach the a hold or outbound leg might be required from the IAF.
