Throttle control

Postby johnno » Wed Oct 13, 2004 12:01 am

:(
Hi Everybody,
I,m fairly new at Flight Sim using FS9 with Wingman Force 3d as a contoller.
I find that the throttle control does not give a full range of revs with less than full takeoff power and no reduction to idle at landing. This is in the 'easy' realism setting.
It also refuses to calibrate properly at this setting

I've tried using "medium" settings where it works and calibrates better but with light twins such as the Beechcraft Baron the aircraft becomes much less stable.

Any advice from anyone or is it just  this controller model(which I have already swapped once with the retailer).
I didn't find the mfrs site particularly helpful.
Thanks

Hi Johnno.
I bought a few months ago also Wingman Force 3d.
After some test flights I decided to bring it back to the store add some money, and buy instead a 19" monitor ;)
The wingman is just too sensitive ven in low sensitivities settings, about the force feedback, nothing to write home about.
My suggestion for you is to use the keyboard for reverse thrusts.

Thanks Gabel, at least I'm not the only one to get problems.

I have the Force3D stick and have no problems, i have calibrated it really well, and my throttle works fine.

Hullo Hi-D,
Could you explain how you managed to calibrate as in'easy' mode my stick fails on the centring test each time.
I alsouse the default of 100% on the forces for all springs maybe I should vary these?

Make sure the stick is plugged in, this enables the centre spring.  This should hold it in place.  If you moving the stick randomly in all directions before letting it go for the centre test, it should calibrate properly.

CH Yoke USB, Saitek X-45, CH Rudder Pedels USB.  Those 3 will solve all your controller needs.  Just got the X-45.  I use the onboard 3 levers on the yoke for light singles and the throttle unit with the X-45 for twins and jetliners.  With a little practice you can get used to the odd angle of that throttle if used right handed.  But, I am saving for either one of the new CH quadrents or the goflight quadrent although I don't like how goflight wants to charge so much extra to buy the extra two levers for twin prop use.
