Best Airports?  + Russia ILS

Postby Chaplain.Kaos » Wed Sep 01, 2004 7:36 am

Hello all,

I know there are loads of great posts already on this forum. This may be copying somewhat but bear with me.

I only have limited time on FS9. I spend as much time as possible on it. I will never in a million years find all the best places to go / land / stop for cuppa tea. Maybe you can help me by putting them here?

One of my favourite airfields is Turtman in Switzerland. Its surrounded by small strips and mountains so great for some multiplayer follow the leader. I also have had a great time on Hovercontrol (www.hovercontrol.com) flying round Hood River. Its amazing that I came to FS9 with absolutely no flying experience and now I can land a 777 in heavy winds through low visability at Charles de Gaulle. Please let me know of interesting places to go in FS9. I have searched high and low for a definitive run down of the top 10 FS9 locations but still looking.

On another note, I need help finding ILS equipped strips in Russia. I am on my way round the world (real time) and have gotten a bit stuck in Russia. The idea was to fly the same aircraft all the way around the northern hemisphere in real time. I am flying the Citation X. Nice plane and has all the kit I need. I started in Manchester, my home town, and flew north to Edinburgh, then to the Shetland Islands, then to Norway, over to Sweden, then Moscow. I landed at Sheremetyevo or somewhere similar and now I am a bit stuck for ILS equipped strips further east. Any help? I only want to do 2-3 hour real time sessions so its no good telling me Beijing or something… Lol.

Thanks for the help, nice forum btw.

Interesting that you said that. I am actually going on holiday to Amsterdam this weekend and will be visiting Schiphol. So i lookied it up on FS the other day. This airport is really detailed... Its amazing. Even has names on the hangars etc...

Cool,

Also flew over KFSO at night yesterday, en route to STOL session on the Carrier... Very nice blue lights.

ILS in russia: cis_ils04.zip on Avsim.com
Parking spaces in russia... i've made an AFCAD package that has been uploaded here... FS2004 scenery section.

There is a nice scenery for Novosibirsk Airport...  PM me if you are interested, as the instructions are a little difficult

I would say MIA (KMIA) Miami International Airport.  That's where I live, that's my base.  I haven't play in 2004 but for what I see in 2002 it's great.

Other airport I take up for challenge are GPS ID: YAYE, right in the middle of the outback mate.  Sort of inside a crater and near by a nice weird loooocking moutAin.  The next challenge is up in Greenland, don't know the ID to that one, but easy to find in 2002.  Go to the south point of Greenland, follow the West coast, it's the second one, get a big bird, put in in the runway.  Push the engines, lower your flaps, and try to take off in that short runway, it you can't you'll run out of runway and ground and find yourself follwing down the hill, then let it get some speed and then PULL up, woooo hoooo, that's what I'm talking about. lol

I also love entering Cairo, pass the pyramids and then land in that busy airport.  and talking about traffic, how about LAX.  Keep flying boys and girls...get those skills and put the settings in hard and then go get your licence and do it real life if you haven't done so.
