Tower view

Postby Dianna78sg » Sun Sep 05, 2004 10:00 pm

Hi everybody  :)

purchased FS2004 and had played it around for a month. And I have a few questions about this great simulator game.

What is excatly tower view in the game. A tower is a higher place in the airport and we should see the aircraft clearly when it come/approach the airport right? But when I switch to tower view,it view the plane but covered with house, tree or mountain around the airport area at it seem not a view from the tower. Is there anyway to adjust the view?

I usually started the game with the aircraft parked at the gate but most of the time I tried to reverse, the aircraft doesn't move at all (yes,I had the parking brake off and reverse throttlle at full) and I had to move forward and turn around. Is it a bug or I missed something.

my last question, Is there any good manual to fly the Learjet in the game?

Thanks in advance

Dianna,

HI and welcome to SimV.

At some airports Microsoft got the tower view all messed up.

Thank you very JBaymore! I just noticed about it in the kneedboard...just realize about  kneeboard  just now (I'm kinda lazy on reading manual  ;D). About the tower view, I think I stick to default feature for now (thinking about learning how to add add-on aircraft first)...anyway thanks again for the info.

Dianna

re the Tower view.  I love this feature particularly for watching my take-offs and landings in the "instant replay" mode.
It is very easy to position the tower.  When you have a flight set up, go to World>Map.  You will see a map of your position showing at least your aircraft as a little black shape.  If you're lucky you may see another black shape looking a bit like a letter "T" - yup that is the tower!  If not use the + and - buttons in the top left of the pane to pull out as far as you can.  You may find the tower at the MS default location in Seattle.  Simply place your mouse pointer on the tower and drag it close to your aircraft.  As you get closer use + to get more detail on your map so you can "fine tune" your placement and put the tower adjacent to the runway where your aircraft is.  Now, you will see two radio buttons in the map pane marked "aircraft" and "tower".  Make sure "tower" is checked and then adjust the height of the tower to be around 200 feet above your runway (the map will show the height of the airport above sea level).
When you are happy, close the map pane and cycle through to the tower view.  Your aircraft should appear below you on its runway.  If you are a bit close/too far/too high/not high enough simply make your adjustments using "Map".
By doing the same at the end of a flight and before you run the instant replay (replay the last 300 seconds or so of your flight) you can watch yourself make that perfect landing!    :)

Regarding the Lear45, I just wanted to say that this aircraft is my favorite to fly with FS2004.  It has the speed and complexity of a jet but also can land on relatively short runways.  Once you get used to landing it (IFR/ILS or VFR), it's hard to mess with a larger jet like a 777 or 747.   ;D
