Menu sizes using different main resolutions?

I'm bothered by something.  I run FS2004 in 1024x768 (16 or 32) bit resolutions,  but all the in-game menu boxes seem to be setup for 800x600.  
Is there a hidden setting that I can set to give me full screen menus in-game, without having to set my main res to 800x600?
