weather

Postby fellowes52 » Fri Jul 30, 2004 2:45 pm

hi all in fs2004 you can choose real time wheather, well i live in northern ireland in the uk, so i choose to download the weather every 15 minutes from the internet, so i set up my flight plan and go and fly from Belfast.  If it is cloudy in Belfast its ok, but if i fly to somewhere in spain, it is still cloudy, its the same anywhere i go, can someone please tell me why?.  ???

Could be that its cloudy in Spain. The weather here on the continent is miserable at the moment!

Right, in weather settings there is a bar near the bottom that controls the speed of weather change. Set it higher.

Hey fellowes,

Why don't you try checking the weather on the internet if you have these concerns. You might find that the weather is working fine in Flight Sim. I used to be concerned about this too, but I started checking and I don't think I've ever encountered a situation where real-time weather was too off. Good luck.

The weather downloads in ACOF isn't entirely accurate. I've loaded up the weather at my local airport and in the sim it's IFR only while outside it's sunny for the whole state. I think if they don't have data for an area the sim just picks something at random (or that's the way it seems). If I find too much differenct I just check the weather on a weather site on the net and adjust my flight sim to that.

I have also noticed that you can fly a whole flight without a cloud in sight but as soon as you begin your approach it suddenly becomes IMC conditions......... :o
This seems a bit weird  :o
