It was my understanding that by using crtl e that any planes engine would start even if the fuel flow was initally set to off the crtl e sequance would toggle the fuel flow to on. I know I have seen this happen with the B737 series if you have the throttle window up set the fuel flow switches to off then press crtl e you can watch them turn on. But may be this is not happening in this case so I would check to make sure that the fuel flow switch is on during start.
