what is RTO?

What does RTO does by the time to take off,and why has to be set ?

RTO stands for Rejected Take-Off, basically if you determine that you must abort the take off it slows your aircraft down when you move the throttles to idle, but if you're above V1, the best thing to do is to take off, fly a circuit then land.

My explanation is terrible, but that's the idea.
