Yeah Craig, right as usual  8)

Contrails are water steam that stucks on particles from the jet exhaust. Depending on airpressure and winds those can be visible for quite some time, and they can be very beautiful aswell (maybe somehting you can shoot Craig, I'd love to have those as a desktop background!)

Vapour trails are created when an aircraft travels thru air which has a relative high humidity. Air flowing over the wings moves faster and with less pressure than the surrounding air, and the lower pressure causes the water particles to condensate much faster, thus creating a visible trail.

So if something has the right shape, it can produce vapor trails ( I didnt mean contrails in their most obvious meaning ).

Hi Gogi,

From your file list it appears that the default contrails (2003's) are still intact, so default a/c and others not configured to use the 'new' effects (2004's) should show properly.

Try flying a default a/c and see if this is the case.

To remove the 'bad' contrails from a/c that show them, move the 2 (2004) files to a safe place for now, like to your desktop or a temp folder.  The a/c should then revert to  the default contrails.

If not you  may have to edit the aircraft.cfg files for the configured a/c. The 'new' effects are configured in the [smokesystem] section of the aircraft.cfg file.

Cheers,
Dave

As always, back up any files before editing.

Ok, then youll have to restore the default files from the CD.

They are on CD 1 in the MSGAME1.cab. Simply open in Explorer and drag the 2 files into your FS9/Effects folder.
Overwrite when prompted.

Dave

Glad you got it fixed.. :)

By default there are only 2 contrail effects. The other 2 were added by an add-on, maybe an A320 or effects add-on.

Cheers,
Dave
