This is about your memory and your quoted system spec above....
You are apparently running your RAM at 333mhz, yet your CPU and Front Side Bus speed is 266mhz. (AMD XP2400+'s run on a 266mhz FSB speed)
You'll find that if you drop your memory speed to 266mhz so it runs in sync with the rest of your rig, you'll get a faster machine.
As a side effect of dropping the speed of your PC2700 (333mhz) RAM to 266mhz, you'll probably find you can set turbo or "overclocked" ram timings to further increase your system's power. (CAS latency to 2.0 for instance).
You need to configure these things with care in the BIOS of your PC if you know how.
Also, if you happen to have an nForce2 chipset, (mainboard), you could add another IDENTICAL ram stick and run the Memory in DUAL CHANNEL mode for further performance increase. Read your manual for directions.
