how many memory ?

may be am I  too demanding ! m computer was doing fine with fS2002, and I must admit that I downloaded a lot of extra sceneries and planes which sometime does not help.
My computer does not seems that bad considering your comments.

This is about your memory and your quoted system spec above....

You are apparently running your RAM at 333mhz, yet your CPU and Front Side Bus speed is 266mhz. (AMD XP2400+'s run on a 266mhz FSB speed)

You'll find that if you drop your memory speed to 266mhz so it runs in sync with the rest of your rig, you'll get a faster machine.

As a side effect of dropping the speed of your PC2700 (333mhz) RAM to 266mhz, you'll probably find you can set turbo or "overclocked" ram timings to further increase your system's power. (CAS latency to 2.0 for instance).

You need to configure these things with care in the BIOS of your PC if you know how.

Also, if you happen to have an nForce2 chipset, (mainboard), you could add another IDENTICAL ram stick and run the Memory in DUAL CHANNEL mode for further performance increase. Read your manual for directions.

Dual channel is not available on any fsbs less than 400.  So a 266 fsb would not support dual channel.  Also dual channel does not give a large increase in performance for AMD systems.

Hi-D Dual channel works on 333FSB fine.  But not sure about 266fsb.  I have an MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR which is rated up to 400fsb but will take the slower FSB speed CPU's too.  I did gain about 80 marks in 3dMark01 by switching to dual band.  I think they say about 5% but I am not sure of the overall effect.  I know Dual band is not effective at all on AMD64's in fact I am not even sure the mobos support it.  

Congo, usually if the CPU is lower FSB than the ram it will automatically de-clock the ram unless the ram/cpu ratio has been altered in BIOS.  If its been unaltered and left at 1:1 his ram would just be de-clocked to 266MHz.

You are totally right about tweaking the ram though.  Its exactly what I have done. I got PC3200 (400fsb) for my 333MHz cpu, gettin this has enabled me to make my ram timings as tight as the mobo will let me, and yes this gave me a big performance increase.

I know the 266 mobos don't incorporate it because they are too old to use it, as for 333 it must be only certain ones.  The kt333 chipset does not support it whereas the kt400 does.

Ah got confused. My mobo will accept 400fsb cpus.  Yes I believe your right in that 266fsb max mobos and prob 333fsb max ones wont support dual channel.

But in my mobo which supports up to 400 you can put 266fsb and 333fsb cpu's thus you can utilise the dual channel.

Suppose its all down to what mobo you have as to whether its supported  :)

Thanks for your clever advices. My mobo has the KT 400 chipset, but I don't know about dual range memory, I will check that.
for information my main board is a :
Gigabyte GA-7VA
VIA KT400 / AGP x8/x4 ; FSB 333/266/200 socket A
3 DDR DIMM/ ATX.

It is likely that your motherboard will have 3 RAM slots.  You will need two pieces of RAM that are the same size and same CL etc... (basically the same).  Then put one piece in slot 1, and one piece in slot 3.  This will enable dual channel and double the bandwidth for the memory.  This does not benefit AMD systems very much though.

I used to have ME and I used the trick that oldhorse describes, it works, ME can work at higher memmory values.
Its very simple to do. There is a good website out there that describes what to do, step by step, but I forgot what it was  :P .
