exhaust effect???

Postby valo1030 » Sat May 29, 2004 10:46 am

hi everyone...hope someone out there know about this:  on many of my propeller type a/c i get a small red ball of flame just fwd of the nose spinner...i believe its part of some "effects" eng start download, but have no idea how to get rid of it....i deleted every "eng start" or "smoke" effect...still there!...i believe this may be from either a "calclassic" or windriftrs" effect???,,,its driving me nuts.

Which aircraft is this, then we could look at the aircraft.cfg ourselves and decide what is best.

its not the smoke that bothers me so much, although, dont really want to see all that smoke from a light plane..no, its the "ball of flame" in front of the a/c engines or prop spinner, i.e. baron 58, etc...happens to many...even download a/c.......(no..not a ufo! )

That could be in your acft.cfg file or even in the panel.cfg, but for it to happen to many different acft. you would have to be using the same panel or made an entry to the different acft.'s panel.cfg.

By any chance did you add Turbo Smoke FX from ShopX_FX? This package would have had the DTS XML gauges. This package also came with a "Coordinator Tester" that put a red or blue glow around the engine so you can properly locate where the smoke effects should be for various acft. After that, you were suppose to remove the edited lines for the Tester.

In copying files such as certain panel.cfg or acft.cfg from acft. to acft., you might have this line still in there and are just moving the problem around to some of your acft.

If you send me JUST the panel.cfg and acft.cfg of ONE of the acft. that is giving you this problem, I will take a look and see if the problem lies in either one of those files.

ok...here's where i'm at;...the problem is fixed by deleting fx file "eng-strt", modified on 11/25/2001 at 9:05. this was a download from cal classic, placed in my effects folder for all of toms classic propliners (i have them all).......now...as a result of the "fix", i no longer get the very real smokey start on the recips from cal classics, but then i also dont get it on small plane start ups which is good, nor the mysterious "flame"..so i'm happy now, except, i now need to find a way to get back the "smokey startup" for the propliners...any ideas??...btw..my effects folder in fs9 has about 15 "eng strt" files, some of which are dedicated to specific a/c and a few others that appear to be generic.  out of all of them the one mentioned above was the bad guy  since i wrote the above to cal classics, tom has already sent me e reply.  he has given me a "new revised" eng strt for my individual propliners...will try it now...let you know
