Press the 'Print Screen' button on your keyboard then open a picture editing program like Photoimpact or paint and press Ctrl + c.  Then save the screenshot whereever you want.

An even easier way is to get one of the screen shot utilities.

I prefer GrabClipSave available here>

At that time [1909] the chief engineer was almost always the chief test pilot as well. That had the fortunate result of eliminating poor engineering early in aviation.

Hello CCB_Av8eR!
There are also some free utilities that are available, not sure where but I am sure you can find them.

The 2 I am familiar with are:
"GCS" Grab Clip Save and "Multi Grab".

Both utilities allow you to click on an icon on your desktop, open up the program and you have a few pull down options like, quality, size, where you want the jpgs to go to etc....

I use multi grab, see here!  ;D

I use ScreenShooter. can't remember where I found it but it is the best screenshot program I have ever used. It does everything from resizing automatically to saving to just about any format you want.
Any of the above programs work very well. Even the copy and paste method works good but becomes a hassel. save yourself a bit of time and get one of the programs (after all they are all free!).

I use Irfanview, link is in my signature. Granted its a take a screen shot, alt-tab to desktop, open irfanview and paste then save, but the clarity is wonderful. You can edit the size to 800x600 and I have yet to have one go over the 100k max allowed on simviation.com

If you want high end.

ctrl+print screen

Then paste it into Photoshop.

Photoshop is bit expensive, but you can use MS paint or just paste into a folder.

You'd only need something like Photoshop or PaintShop Pro if you wanted to do editing.

If you're looking to do simple, unedited screenshots, then just hit print screen and then paste it into MS Paint.  (If you want to upload here, you'll need to convert the shot to .jpg, so go to www.irfanview.com and download that nifty tool for free.)

There is also a free demo of PSP at JASC.com.  It's great for screenshots.  (There are freeware alternatives to them as well, but I use PSP so I don't know them by name.)

If you decide to use a screen capture tool like GrabClipSave, then your shot will automatically be captured in .jpg, eliminating the need for a converter like Irfanview.
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

OK. There are lots of free programs to take screenshots.

I, myself, use ScreenPrint. But it has a delay between the pressing of the keyboard and the shot being taken (this doesn't appear to be a good sentence  ::)  ;D, sorry for this)

How about yours? Do they promptly take the shot, or do you have to make good timing to catch a beatiful scene?

It plays a .wav file for you when you hit "Print Screen" the sound may be a little delayed but the shot is done instantly.

ScreenPrint is like this as well. But the delay between the keyboard press and the sound is about 1 seconds. It is a bit long I think.

Anyway, I'll try the one you mentioned and a few others as well.

Thanks.
