Some Q's for the new-be

Postby Roberto » Mon Apr 26, 2004 7:21 am

Just some Questions.

ENGINE STARTUP:
Is there any way to slow the engine startup speed down a little. I think it's a little too quick and would like to slow it down just a tad!

VIRTUAL MEMORY:
As far as I know virtual memory uses some of the HD and FS therefore runs better. My HD was full so I got another one. Do I have to set how much is used for virtual memory or does FS do that by its self.

CHANGING RW's
I noticed that you can ask ATC to land onm another RW. Does AI then use that RW as well. I noticed a couple of Dash's follow me and land on same RW after I asked ATC to land on another RW compared to that that AI was using.

First question the only way this might be done would be to change an effect file, or to alter the panel cfg file in some way. I downloaded a different panel for the default baron that changed the way it started.
Second question Unless you know what you are doing let windows handle your virtual memory, you can set it; but be fore waned if you do not set aside enough it can cause some nasty things to happen.
Third question I do not think that AI aircraft have the abality to ask for a different runway other than the current active runway. The only way this might happen would be if the wind changed directions causing the change of the active runway. 8)

ENGINE STARTUP
I tried some things my self and lowered the fuel_flow_scalar to 0.75 in the [GeneralEngineData] section. Now it's just amazing listening to the plane starting up from the outside. I made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.

I don't know how this will effect the plane in flight?
