little help with graphics

Postby kiloecholima » Sun Apr 25, 2004 10:19 pm

I have just upgraded my system to gain better performance from fs9 but all it has created is problems. ???Image                                                                         Image
My old system never had this problem, but ran quite slow, where as this system can run with good fps.  The graphics problems you see above gradually happen until you cant fly at all. :'(  I have tried all sliders maxed and taken them all to nothing and the problem still occurs.  I have also tried a few different drivers and a reload to no avail.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,

If you installed FS while your old VGA was on your board, you may try to un-install and install FS again.
As far as I know, while installing, FS recognizes your VGA and apply optimizations accordingly. This could couse the problem.

P.S. Please wait and see if there are any other comments from more experienced members. You may try this then.

But it seems just destined to crash

Do you have this problem in any other games?

That looks like a driver conflict (I had one recently). Just uninstall ALL driver sets (use the Program Unistall feature in Windows), and then just install the latest set. Reboot the machine, and everything should be okay. Sometimes the built-in uninstallers don't delete the old drivers ::)

Good luck

Since you say the problem comes on gradually makes me think that you might have an over heating problem, or psu to small.

I had an over heating problem after install my new 9600xt that after about 15 min., my card would quite and lock the computer up totally.

Add some fans and a new 350 watt psu and the problem was gone.

P.S Ozzi is right about the drivers, I had forgotten about doing that.

Thanks for the swift replys.  The fx5600 is the first VGA that has been put into the new mobo.
I re-installed il2 sturmovik last week to see if it would run but had the same problem.
Thanks for the tip ozzy,  I have been using the windows uninstaller for every one of the drivers(45.23,52.16,53.04,56.64)
I probably should have explained the speed of the problem.  By the time I have started the engines, the aircraft around me have lost there textures and my vc dash has gone, then the sky goes black.  The game has never stalled even after a 30 min flight(had an itch to scratch) but very boring.

Graphics drivers!:
I found out that old graphics drivers wern't completely removed when I removed one and tried to install a new one. I upgraded to a higher GEFORCE and my new driver didn't want to install properly. If nothing works, maybe try to format. Well, keep this as a final resort.

If you put a new card into a old system you might want to check your power requirements. You might also want to think about the possability of your monitor might be dying on you. 8)
I recently put in a fster cdrw drive and had to change my power supply as my system started doing strange things I went from a 250 watt power supply to a 300 watt power supply.Since then I have had no problems.
But the loss of graphics could be a monitor problem. :(

Looks as though I have found the problem ;D ;D ;D.  The graphics card is kaput.  I took the tower to the shop that I had bought it off and asked them to have a go at it.  Hooked it up and there was the problem on there screen as well.  They then threw in an FX5200 and ran fine(with everything maxed).  Fps down a bit from the other card,  but I get replacement in about a week (and they let me use the FX5200 till it gets in).  Thanks to all who gave advice. ;)
