FS Video Creation

Postby Pinchaser... » Thu Apr 22, 2004 5:57 pm

I want to get started with creating my own FS movies. It would help if y'all could provide me with some information on any software i would need to get.

for capturing the video, you need a software...FRAPS is a good choice and I believe it's available as both freeware and payware.

Now FRAPS captures every frame as a BMP image, so you have to understand that the raw video size will become VERY BIG.

Now, you can convert the bmp images into an avi-file, which will reduce the size dramaticly.
A free alternative is virtual dub.

But you need a SUPERFAST computer to create a smooth flowing video, in most cases the end result will be stuttery.

Good luck  :)

No, I'm afraid not.
I've made some videos with a very similar system and you're lucky to capture the video with 10fps...result= Choppy movie

If you've got a digital camcorder, there's a way to attach the camera to the computer itself and get better video.  I'm currently trying to figure out how to do it though.  lol
Great edit, Bob.

Yes,I also think the best way to get good quality movie is to use a digital camera, taking picture from the screen.
In addition u'd better to take picture from the flight itself and not from the sim playback, cause playback itself gives very low fps(maximum 4-I think, while 20-25 is normal for smooth video)
I dont think u need connection between camera and comp,u can take as much video as camera's memory capasity lets, then drop the piece into comp, emptying memory for the next piece...Finally u can get pieces together in some video editing programm...

Another way is to connect camera to USB of another
mashine in order to get continuous video...
Why not to connect to the same computer where sim runs?IMHO-it'll take much comp's power as well, bringing
all digital camera's advantage to nought...

If your Video Card has a TV out feature, you can capture direct to DV or analouge video with a camcorder.

This is how I do mine, using a Canon DV camera and a GeForce 4600Ti card.

DOH!  I never even thought about using the video out on my card.  Dammit, I've been wasting all this time.  LOL  (Which proves my theory that the first thing to check when something isn't working is whether or not it's plugged in!)

Now I've just gotta see if I've got a cord lying around.  lol

The videos from Levolution are very professional looking.

Here is a thread with the fourth post describing what I had and what I used. That video was my first.
