2 Q's: Epilepsy and texture problem

Postby Roberto » Tue Apr 20, 2004 1:56 am

Hello!
I noiticed in the front cover of the small FS2004 manual that it has a SAFETY WARNING about epilepsy. Is this something specific to FS2004. I have post traumatic epilepsy but haven't had prob's with FS2002.

TEXTURE AFTER FULL INSTALL!
I did a full install and the grass textures around the airports don't show up. It's either light blue or black. While installing I got a warning from Windows that my HD was getting full but I still had over 350Megs left after the install!

Thanx!
Roberto!

I don't think it is meant to be taken as FS9 having a specific problem, it is a way for software manufacturers to protect themselves from liability.
The have to put that warning there as well as almost all video games. Sudden flashing lights, quick movement etc can all trigger Epilepsy attacks. Also recommended that people who are affected by such stay away from anything like strobe lights, more or less anything that has "flashy" images (music videos) etc.
I have suffered a seizure in the past and i know if watching a music video, or playing a game that has a bunch of quick moving and flashy things going on I start to feel funny, and discontinue playing. FS9 is one that I have never had any trouble with, so I would say it is safe.

As for your hdd thing.  Remeber windows uses page space (I think thats what its called)  So as well as using your ram it has space allocated on the HDD to temp sotre stuff. Maybe this is why it wouldnt install the textures for you. Best to have at least a gig of space left that way your page file shouldn't have any probs.

If someone else could confirm what i written it would be good though  :)

Gixer you are on the right track with what you said
Windows makes a swap file as it runs you can control the size of this file BUT I WOULD NOT RECOMEND YOU DO THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING if you make this file to small it can cause windows to either lock up or crash hard. If you can not afford a diferent drive I would suggest you try to remove some files from it. Also turn off any thing such as virus scanners or other programs that are not needed look in the lower left hand corner of your screen any icons in this area are programs that start up when windows opens this area is known as the system task bar. By left clicking on a icon over there you will see if you are able to close a task.
