gto-driver,

Happy Birthday.  And CONGRATULATIONS on the copy of fs2004.

The list of "best" is long.  Mainly the increased overall realism for me.

And enjoy the real slight lessons too.  Nice mom.

best,

Happy Birthday gto_driver!!! Well, FS2004 offers a couple of different things such as scenery. There are more airports that have been detailed to look like what it really does (not exact and not all of them have it but it's better than nothing  ;D). Also there is a new GPS that can tell you information of different airports such as frequency codes and maps that have a terrain mode so you can see what the elavation of the terrain is around you...there is much more like JBaymore said but I don't want to ruin it. You'll see for yourself  ;D

gtodriver,

Adding on to Staiduk's thought.... which is great.......

In you realism settings, set stuff to full "real".

Also look around for Real Air Simulations really nice C172 model.  It used to be payware but now it is freeware.  It is supposedly a far more realistic recreation of the C172 as far as the flight dynamics go.  I have it and use it all the time.... it flys very differently than the default model.

Look up the background info on the airport you will fly out of both in the sim and on the net.  Use it for flying in the sim.  Ground, tower, and center frequencies, taxiway designators in the General Aviation section of the airport (unless it is all GA), and find the terminal procedures and approach plates.

best,

...............john
