Change the nearest airport situation

Hi People,
is there a structural way to change the settings for the "nearest airport" situation? I donot think it is realistic when a pilot is only capable to contact the airport when he is 5 minutes before landing. And that is the situation in FS2004: only when you are very near the airport you can actually communicate and ask for "FULL LANDING".
I want to be able to do this at a distance of (lets say) 75nm from the airport and not 10nm like it is now in FS2004.
And donot get me wrong: I know there is a feature in fs2004 which lists the airport some distance further but still (in my opinion) the distance is too short.
Once again: can someone tell me how to change this "STRUCTURAL" in fs2004??

Well, I don't think you'll be able to contact an airport from 75nm away, but if your in an area where there are not many other airports, then you might be able to contact the ATC from 30nm.  :)
