Check your Display settings and see what your settings are at in the Scenery Objects section.
Scenery Complexity and Autogen Density effect how much stuff is displayed especially when on or very close to the ground. Could be you have these set to high for the fields you are at.
Also, try selecting clear skies and see if that helps. The detailed clouds really hit your frame rates.
