FSRAAS and FSUIPC woes

Postby stephan » Thu Feb 26, 2015 1:34 pm

I have the older FSRAAS 1.1 and my FSUIPC is version 3.85 and is registered.I have Windows XP and run FS9. FSX demands too much from older computers.
NOW...
I scanned my computer to make sure there was only ONE instance of the files/programs I mentioned. The installation procedure for the FSRAAS states that all one need do is open the zip and run the exe file.It connects to FS and should be good to go. One other note. You SHOULD run MAKE RUNWAYS program and install the resulting file into the FSRAAS folder. This I did to the letter. I get absolutely NO response from the FSRAAS program in any respect.
NOW...what did I do wrong? I am almost certain my version of FSUIPC (3.85) is sufficient. The FSRAAS 1.1 program doesnt state what minimum version one can use. However, the FSRAAS ver 2.0 does and it is only one newer version than I have. Anyone else run into this problem and figure out a solution? Starting to get a little tired of downloading things that dont work.Too much wasting of my time,as well as highly aggravating. Thanks folks. // Stephan "Altitude With Attitude."

For starters let me state that I have never used the program you are talking about.
I Goggled it and found the following web site.http://planeman-fs.blogspot.com/2012/05/fsraas-v11.html
It does not state which version of FSUIPC is needed. That tells me that the version you have should work as long as you followed the instructions on the web page I listed. No installation or setup process is required. Just unzip and run "FsRaas11.exe".
Runway position data file("r4.csv") should be in same folder.

FSUIPC should be installed.

I did see where others said they had issues with the sound but other than that no problems.

Thanks Gary. Yep.I loaded the program as per instructions.Nothing.Then,I tried to run it out of it's folder and placed directly in FS9 main folder.Nothing.Then,I tried by placing sound files in FS9 main sound file.Still nothing. Really irritating that ,tho generous with their freebies and the work that goes into them, they remain vague in their instructions or requirements. Cant even contact the designer any more. So,it's in the air for now.I give up.

Did you follow the below procedure?

----- HOW TO USE -------------------------------------------

Run "FsRaas11.exe" before or after running Flight Simulator.
It automatically connects with FS and make sounds when needed.

----- TO USE WITH ADD-ON SCENERY ---------------------------

To use at airport where add-on scenery is installed,
- Download "MakeRwys" utility at Peter Dowson's homepage (http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html).
- Put it at FS root folder and run.
- "r4.csv" will be generated. Copy "r4.csv" to FsRaas folder(overwrite the old).

* To improve performance, it is recommended to remove too short runways
by opening "r4.csv" with Excel, sorting by runway length(column G),
and deleting short runways(e.g. <5000ft).

I will down load this when I get home this afternoon and see if i can get it to work.
I will let you know one way or the other.

I followed the instructions to the letter. Then, when I ran the program,I get the box that says it has connected with Flight sim.I have run the program and sim with the box open, and I have run it closed.I have run and configured the program in every way I can imagine in hopes to hit on something, and still, nothing. This is why I gave up.I'm not a quitter, but I'm not a glutton for punishment either. If someone figures out what the problem may be,then I am going to be very appreciative. But,for myself,I am beyond caring any more. Thanks Gary.
