Good Moving Map?

Postby LTCSZ » Fri Oct 17, 2014 8:22 am

I am looking for a really good, up to date moving map program for FS2004...I have tried several of the free ones, but none of them seem to be real usable...Can someone suggest a good alternative? Free or Pay, I don't care...Thanks a lot,

Steve

I use FSMAP you can download a lot of different maps for just about everywhere you want, So far I have found these at AVSIM but they could be other places as well.
This will show you a image of the Airport you are at allowing you to zoom in so you can read taxi way and runway signs and even shows the parking places. It makes navigating a new airport a breeze. You have to hate it when you are at a airport you have never been to before and ATC tells you to taxi to runway 7 using taxi way oscar november charlie and you have no clue as to where these are FSMAP will allow you to slew around the air port thus finding taxiways and runways easy.
In flight it has a TCAS system that warns you a nearby aircraft within 10 NM so you can see them before they go by you. By the time ATC tells you the aircraft is going by you a little late if you ask me. It also shows your flight path as well it will show you all of the navaids in your area.
Here is the link for FSMAP
http://fsmap.net/
Here is the link to AVSIM to download all the charts
http://library.avsim.net/search.php?Sea ... &Go=Search
If you use this the best way to do this is to create a folder outside of FSMAP and NOT in any FS folder
Down load all the files you want once satisfied you will need to unzip all of the files. it will create another folder where you will find the map to inseret into FSMAP
This is a slow process but well worth the effort
If you have any questions at all just shoot me a private email and i will be more than happy to help out any way I can

FSMAP works in both FS9 and FSX

From the FSTramp page link you submitted:

System Requirements:

Windows Vista or newer Windows versions. Not WinXP!

Microsoft Flight Simulator X with service pack 1 + 2 or with Acceleration
Expansion Pack. FSTramp does not work when the FSX is in full screen mode.

As an alternative Lockheed Martin Prepar3D v2. In combination with
this Simulator the full screen mode is easily usable.

FSTramp needs no internet connection.

Price:
Final price in EURO:
€ 30.00
The price in other currencies depends on the current exchange rate.

Now ...... I might have missed something, but it appears it it neither FREE nor for FS2004 as you stated. Am I wrong? Please forgive me if I am ...............

My sincere apologies...

It appears that yet again I/we have rattled your cage in the past, regarding FS 2004...>>> viewtopic.php?f=20&t=171005&p=1266004#p1266004

FS Tramp, which I use, is the FS Navigator version for FSX....Free for a Trial Period..so good that I finally purchased it!

Plan-G, which I use, is free for all versions of Windows, versions of FS 2004, FSX and X-Plane.

Is there a really serious problem?

Mr. Paul Fozzer,

Wow, you're really quite observant and careful about looking up my posts. Nice job.

............Now, let's see what the original poster was asking for............"I am looking for a really good, up to date moving map program for FS2004"

I guess my serious problem is that you gave misleading information to the OP and/or might have confused him/her and/or might not have realized what you were doing by giving that information and/or might be making an excuse for it now rather than feeling just a little bad about it now. You don't see a problem with me having a problem with YOUR problem?

Sincerely,

After many, many years of offering information and advice regarding the various Flight Sims, and other interesting subjects, in this and other sites, I often leave it to the Original Poster, and fellow Simmers, to filter out the relevant information pertaining to their particular query, and leave the remainder to other Folks who may also find the other information given, useful to them also.

All the eggs in one basket....We are all a mixed bag.

Filtering the pleasant from the unpleasant..... ;) ....!

WOW!.... :o ...!

Excellent news!

I didn't think that many of us left were still using the wonderful, original version of; "FS Navigator".... :D ...!

I have been using my version since it was first released, many years ago for my FS 2000, FS 2002, and FS 2004!

I have my original "FS Nav installation.exe" safely saved on a CD, together with my registration details, ready to be re-installed whenever required.
"FS Tramp", by the same author, is the direct equivalent of "FS Navigator" designed for FSX!.... ...!

Of course, "Plan-G" works for practically everything now!... :D ...!

All excellent for use with Multiplayer, (on the "FS Host" Servers*), to see who is around!

Paul....I love Maps!.... ...!

Simviation forum is one of the most level-headed,friendly,and informative sim sites out there.IMO,...it IS the best place to go for WHAT EVER sim needs arise.
Even a little fun fellowshipping.
So,Brother Fozzer...you're a foodie,eh? LOL !
