Are you using MAIW in FSX?  You must convert the MAIW packages to FSX standards, or it WILL cause your FSX default traffic to disappear.

ALL FS2004 Traffic files will do this to FSX unless the bgl files are converted using AIFPC or something similar.

I've got all the MAIW & PAI packs installed in FS9 & FSX, and they all work perfectly. ;)

I'm still working on converting all of the Russian Military from avsimRU to FSX standards, but I'm getting there. ;)

Although I'm still learning about MAIW installing my first package (Hornet) it did cause all my traffic to disappear.  Now mind you .... I have MyTraffic installed .... and ALL of my traffic disappeared.  I can find NO CLEAR walkthrough on any of this. Much references FS2000, FS2004 and the installing of a "Virtual FS9" directory, and many "fixes" and "repairs" and "updates".  I'm not criticizing .. I'm just saying it's quite difficult to get it all right without messing something else up.

The virtual FS9 directory is needed because of the auto installer.

Just make a folder call it FS9 and place a copy of the FS9.exe Inside it, and that's where the auto installer will put everything.

When that's done, move the planes & scenery over to FSX, and then convert the flight plans to FSX version using AIFPC (free).

It's not hard to do, the reason they don't do it themselves, is because it's not meant for FSX. If they did, they would have to field all kinds of support questions for problems that are caused by trying to put the square peg into the round hole.

Posky is the same way.  ;)

WOAI and PAI  have come up with an installer that will do all of this automatically, so I'm sure the guys at MAIW are cooking something up.

FS9 isn't going to last forever (as much as I would like it too. ::) ;) )

I did indeed create the FS9 folder with the necessary FS9.exe inside and all the requested folders and sub-folders, installed the Hornet package and then moved all the planes and scenery to FSX.

Understood. ;)

FS9 traffic files are different than the FSX ones.

For some reason, if you put a traffic file made for FS9 into FSX, it will override the

That's the frustrating thing for us.  There are just enough differences between the two version (FS9 vs. FSX) to make it not worth our time.

Had they carried more parts over from 9 to X, it would be much easier to produce packages for both versions.

Wouldnt it just be easier to provide MAIW for FSX instead of the long route? Why is FS9 better than FSX?

To make a very long debate very short, because no one on the MAIW staff has been impressed by FSX enough to make the switch.
