AI Carriers

Postby Excalibur372 » Wed Feb 25, 2009 5:28 pm

Hello SimV people, I have two questions.

1. Is it possible to make a aircraft carrier "appear" around my area?We have the mississippi river going through baton rouge. Is it possible to make a aircraft carrier be there everytime I fly there?

2. What does it mean when an aircraft carrier is made flyable? I see it on simviations site and wonder what it is? Can you really "pilot" a aircraft carrier?

Thanks,
Lucas

In answer to your first question, yes, if you have acceleration. All you
need to do is download one, or both, of Lamont Clark's utilities for
placing the acceleration carriers.

Utility "aicarriers2" will allow you to place ships wherever you happen
to be in free flight by using a drop-down menu.

Utility "AI Boat Utility" will allow you to place and route FSX ships using
Google Earth to define their sailing routes.

Have a look here:

Without acceleration you would be limited to placing a static 'scenery' carrier
using an XML file and BGLComp. This carrier would not be moving
and it's arresting gear and catapults would have to be implemented
using gauges installed in your aircraft via panel.cfg entries.

I recommend the utilities by Lamont Clark.

As for your second question, you can 'pilot' an AI carrier if it is
designed as such with a 'cockpit' and panel.
I do not use these sort of implementation so I will defer to others
to elaborate on this item.
