Adding Staic aircraft help please.

Postby gypsymoth » Tue Jul 15, 2008 4:03 am

I drive round Bournemouth Airport 2 or 3 times a week & note that it's quite a busy place with lots of parked aircraft.  My EGHH has very few & I'd like to add more static stuff.

I've downloaded the AI tutorial but it opens as gibberish.  It may be corrupted?    I'd be very grateful if someone could tell me how to add some aircraft (in simple terminology please!!) to give my regular airports more life.

Many thanks,
Terry.

Hi Terry. I assume this is for FS2004. As a first step may I suggest you download TTools & AFCAD. Both come with detailed instructions. Read them carefully & don't be too ambitious to start with. http://www.simviation.com/fs2004utilities1.htm

There are various front-end utilities available for TTools like Thomas Molitor's AITM which make it a lot easier. http://www.molitor-home.de/fs/aitm/

Blimey Hagar, I read through TTools but can't see anything about static aircraft.  It's all about flying & movement whereas I just want mine to sit still.  I assumed I could just download aircraft & site then where I wanted them?!!   TTools, etc is a bit more complicated than I imagined.   :o

You need a scenery placement program, EZ Scenery is perfect for this (payware). It enables you to place scenery objects in real time including static aircraft.

Thanks ivormills.  I was assuming you could add static aircraft like trees!   ::)

Sorry. I misread your question. You might find creating static scenery easier but you would still have to find or create the aircraft macros to use with it. It's perfectly possible to use AI traffic as static aircraft by creating a flight plan where they move when you're unlikely to visit the airport. I still think this is by far the best method. Andrew Esselbach would be the best person to ask about this. He once covered Oshkosh with a large number of static AI aircraft. This was a long time ago & might have been in FS2002.

Thanks Hagar.  I got & installed Jersey & Guernsey airports some time ago & they came with static aircraft.  I'll trawl my system for the zip files & see how that was done.....might be able to pop them into other airports.  I remember being daunted about adding panel gauges at one time so this is another topic to beat!

I just wish my sim Bournemouth was as full as the real EGHH.

Cheers,
Terry.

There's a little utility named MDLtoBGL that you might find useful. It works best with FS98 aircraft. There's plenty still posted at Simviation.

You will also find plenty of static aircraft that are ready to use in the many free ez library file downloads.
