World Of AI Question

Postby FlightSimKid » Wed Nov 28, 2007 3:56 pm

Hi there well after reading about freeware AI and that its better to go freeware than payware, I decided to Pack-up my Ultimate Traffic, ready to be sent back and try some freeware packages. My question is this ive downloaded the "Airline files" and downloaded the installer for the World Of AI. Nothing went wrong, after installation, mainly on UK airlines, i clicked on "Expert" Mode to see what packages i have installed then clicked on an airline then "Airport Info" after that it showed all the places around the world it would be visiting. Say i loaded up FS9 and went to Heathrow would the AI packages i installed  be there or would i need to open up TTools? i chose the automatic install btw.
Specs:

AMD Phenom 9750 Quad-Core Processor 2.4GHz
4GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4350
500GB Hard-drive
Blue-ray.

Just start the game, if you did an automatic install you will see the traffic on the airports ( provided you have enough parking spaces for them).
When doing an auto install there's no need to run ttools since the packages come with an already compiled bgl

World-of-AI only adds aircraft to your sim. It does not include scenery's or afcads.
The aircraft used are the best available freeware AI traffic currently available. This is done to minimise frame rate loss en to ensure high quality of AI traffic.

As for geographical correctness, WoA only delivers AI traffic based on airlines. So each package represents a specific airline and the flights for that airline are executed by the AI traffic.
The flights are based on the timetables as used by the airlines themselves.

The reason that we deliver air line by airline instead of an all in one pacakge is that it's easier to maintain when an specific airline is changing instead of changing a GB worth package time and time again and people jhaving to download it over and over again.

We have currently 200 different airlines to choose for, this includes Airlines, Cargo, Military and GA traffic.
You can have a look at www.world-of-ai.com

Do all of the airline packages work in FSX? Most of the packages are identified as FS 2004.

They do all work in FSX.

If you want them to fly on the correct days in FSX.
You can use AIFPC for it, it can be found at http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/attach ... 1184590100

Adding WOAI to FSX.
Ok it is a little more work but here goes. First off, FS9 and FSX ai flightplans can cause a conflict, basically wherever there are FS9 planes showing up FSX planes will not. So if you dont convert the flight plans none of the default planes will show up as some airports. WOAI is the easiest to use and PAI it seems are not far short of releasing a FSX installer. I like to kep my AI separate, it makes for easy backup and removal. In your smobjects folder
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\
create a folder called AI.  When you use the WOAI installer you can point it to this directory and it will place all its AI planes in here and that way it wont clutter up the Airplanes folder. Next in the FSX.cfg under [MAIN] enter the following with the Simobjects path list

SimObjectPaths.6=SimObjects\Ai
this lets FSX know where the AI planes are. When you install the WOAI plans make sure you use the FSX  ( under target)option and manual install and point it to the ai folder ie.
Under FSX path...C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\

under FSX subfolder....SimObjects\Ai

All the flight plans will go to the default directory

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Scenery\World\Scenery

I then created a folder in the addonscenery folder called ai/scenery and copied all the flight plans there. Leve the default stff where it is in the scenery/world/scenery folder. You will need to activate this folder in the scenery option in FSx  setup. Then run AIFPC. it will allow you to do batch conversions. Make sure first time that it shows traffic bgl and select under compile target FSX. Select all the flightplan BGLS and a folder to extract them to. When it done point AIFPC to the folder you extracted the flightplans too and change the flight plan file to
AMD P2 1090t CPU,4.1 GHZ. 8Gig DDr3 1600 MHz cas 9, ram, Nvidia GTX 560 ti 1 gig Video, Sound Blaster XFI Extreme audio

actually, it installed to my SimObjects/Airplanes folder, and all my planes work just fine.

Also, some of the military packages that are for a specific AFB include AFCAD files

I know this post is a little old, but thank you MjrHealth... I've always hated that it filled the Airplanes folder and never even thought of adding a new folder and dropping a line in the .cfg. So simple and saves so many headaches for me. Appreciate the tip... 8-)
