Hi all, just wondering, if I set up some AI between military airports in the Swiss Alps and I set the cruising altitude lower that the mountains will the aircraft fly through the valleys, over them, or just straight through the mountains?
Cheers. :)

LOL...why would you want to do that?...........mind you I think personally they would still get through........mmm......wonder if you set it below GL what would happen.........might just give it a go.......At least it would stop the silly B's dropping on my back when I am landing..........

Since AI aircraft don't use navigation beacons they will fly point to point.
When the flightlevel is lower then the mountians around the airport they will fly into the mountains.
If you set them below GL then they won't show in the sim

Yeah...I have a few jets that land a few miles before the runway in LAX and they just go underground and pop up just before the runway and finish their taxi...

...mm...That could mean you need to flatten the area ...use Flattenbgl.exe to do that see if it improves things....commoner

You can always add waypoints in a valley so the aircraft use them as turning points.
But you would have to make the flightpath between waypoints a straight line so the a/c would not fly into the mountains.
Waypoints can be built using AFCAD. They are essentially small invisible airports where aircraft must be flightplanned to do touch and goes.
