Is there a way to make default AI user flyable?

I want to fly default AI planes like the MD-83 or Dash-8 so I won't have to download new models from the internet that may have errors in them.

Yes there is but why would you?

AI aircraft flight dynamics are not tuned and can be a real handful to even get off the ground if you are lucky.

My suggestion is to find the aircraft you are looking for in the download section of this site and use them. It will be much easier, and a lot less hassle, using those aircraft. And if you do have any problems with those aircraft there are plenty of people around here that will be more than glad to help you out.

And in case nobody else has....

Welcome to the funny farm. ;D ;D

Ok I give up why in gods green earth is everyone wanting to fly AI aircraft is there some loco weed some where or has everyone lost there mind, This is about the third or fourth post about someone wanting to fly AI.
Do not get me wrong if that is what you want to do than by all means. But take mine and Papa9571 word for it you really do not want to fly AI they were never designed to fly and the amount of time it takes to make them remoteley somewhat flyable is just not worth the effort.
It would take you several hours using AIRED to adjust the air file then you have to adjust the aircraft cfg file as well. And after all of that the one thing you can not alter is the one thing that really needs altering and that is the flight dynamics  and the model itself. OOPS I almost forgot about the textures are usually the pits so you would have to alter them as well. 8)

:-[ :-[  Well this sucks  :-[ :-[

Had I known about a lot of the things that needed to be done, I might not have bothered in this post.  The reason I want to fly default AI in FS is because their models are created by Microsoft and I think I would feel better knowing that I was flying an authentic model.  I feel that models you can download (created by small-time developers) may have errors in them.  I'm glad you guys pointed out the effort it would take.  I just wish there was some magical place online that would guarantee error-free authentic models.  I'm prabably just dreaming, this is planet Earth!

Your sentiments are in the right place but just a little off.

The default aircraft in FS9 are not perfect by any means. They all have their problems such as inaccurate fuel flow rates, ranges, weights....etc

By avoiding addon aircraft you are missing a wonderful opportunity to fly some of the best free models available for FS9. Fly a 727 from Chicago to LA. or a 707 from New York to London, or a DC-10 from Atlanta to Honolulu, or an A-320 from Paris to Moscow. If you are in to short haul routes take an ATR-42 from London to Paris or a Saab 340 from Mineapolis to Chicago. The possibilities are almost endless as there are that many aircraft available in almost every livery.

And in most cases these models fly very well and have been tested and tweaked so the are as real as possible. There will be the occasional oddball that just wont fly but the beauty of that is you can get help from anyone here on getting it flying or you can just delete it.

Please, by all means, do not limit yourself to just the default aircraft in FS9. There is a whole new world waiting for you by downloading a few free add-on aircraft.

Me again.  I will say that I do not wish to completely limit myself to default aircraft.  I just thought that it might be cool to fly an AI plane.  I do have many downloaded planes which I love to fly.  One thing troubling me would be a mass website for BLANK PLANES ONLY.  I love jets so if I could find out where to get everything from a DC-10 (blank or painted) to an MD-83 (blank or painted) I would have it made.  Thanks for the suggestions though .

Thanks wji, for your input.  Your suggestions were great, I love that plane you linked me to.  I also have downloaded some AI blanks.

P.S. Do you know where I could get user flyable blanks?

"Do you know where I could get user flyable blanks?"

There's plenty
of free 'blanks' out there; they are called paintkits (paint kits; paint_kits). PAI has hundreds of'em

Sweet!!!

PAI seems like a great place but I have one problem.  I don't know if I'm just a noob or what but whenever I click on a paintkit to download, the download comes up with no files.  WinZip (what I use) shows no files in the download.  Is this normal?? If it helps, I tried to download a DC-10 Paintkit.
