AI Memory

Hi dudes,

Finally got my head round all this AI business. I am quite comportable with creating AI flights from scratch so I have 2 questions:
1. If I remove 99% the default AI will the game run faster and
2. Can I remove these just by deleting the flight plans in the .bgl file after I have broken i down using TTools?

Although I set the AI density right up, normally I struggle to find default traffic so I was hoping I could just create a few flights around my local airport.

Cheers for your help

Ian

1. Yes. The more ai traffic in your area, the more work the computer has to do, particularly if your using 'flyable' aircraft for ai. Using aircraft designed for 'ai only' helps reduce the 'load'.

2.You can. Another option is to just increase the % entry in the flightplan, i.e:

AC#1,AIRB,10%,4Hr,IFR.........example; change to 90% and this flight will only appear if your ai slider is 90 or greater. For those flight you want to see all the time change to 1%.

Default ai traffic is pretty sparse around smaller airports, so creating your own flightplans is a good option.

"1. If I remove 99% the default AI will the game run faster"

Negative: FS9 only accesses AI traffic in the area in which one is currently flying so removing traffic_any.bgl files will not affect performance.

"2. Can I remove these just by deleting the flight plans in the .bgl file after I have broken i down using TTools? "

In FS9, to remove any airport, scenery or traffic, simply remove (usually to a safe place) the NAMED_whatever.BGL file.

P.S. Q2, above, indicates you are working with the main (original) FS9 traffic030528.bgl. May I suggest creating individual traffic_any.bgl AI traffic files using TTools202. This makes keeping track of them much easier.
