I'm not real sure how this happened, but I now have double the AI.

Ya, this happens if you have 2 (or more) traffic_xx.bgl files with the same flight plans.

Dont know as PAI flight plans would cause this. It happens most often with add-on packages that modify the default traffic by replacing the aircraft. A few that come to mind are 'International', 'Continental', 'US' and 'Europe' packages that simply replace the default airlines with realworld liveries.  You end up with 2 or more traffic_xx.bgl files, flying the same flightplans.

If you only have 2 that are identical, look for the default 'traffic030528.bgl' and disable it. (rename to traffic030528.bbb' or move out of the flightsim folders.) If you dont have the default traffic file you'll have to find the 2 files that are duplicate flights and modify or eliminate 1.

Another point to be aware of is FS9's Directory Tree Hierarchy. Although the default location for traffic_any.bgl is:  C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Scenery\World\Scenery\, if you installed a scenery package which has its own AI traffic this traffic_some.bgl is often enclosed in the /scenery/scenery folder and will take precedent and work along with any other traffic_any.bgl files in the FS9 directory hierachy.

This is a good thing for those of us who like to take charge of our FS9, AI traffic -- it's a trick Frank Betts has used quite successfully with most of his addon scnery packages which contain AI traffic.

I had one file called traffic030528.bgl and another called traffic030528.Original.  I moved the one called traffic030528.Original and it fixed the problem.

Thank You!

Good to hear you solved your problem.

I fail to see how moving the file named traffic030528.ORIGINAL could have any effect upon your FS9 AI; there's no way any file with an .ORIGINAL extension could be read by FS9

But hey, whatever turns your crank  ???

P.S. We all have traffic030528.ORIGINAL in our FS9 folder without incident; I have no intention of moving mine anywhere.
