PAI Woes

Adding Aircraft Traffic, airport gates, etc, to your Sim - AFCAD, TTools, Project AI, AI Aircraft, etc

PAI Woes

Postby BFMF » Mon Jul 04, 2005 3:57 pm

Since I havn't had any PAI packages installed for atleast a year, I thought I would head over to their website and fill my skies with reall AI Airlines.

I was surprised to see it's been changed but it didn't look too hard. I downloaded most of the aircraft model packages, the latest installer, and a few airlines.

I installed the aircraft packages without any problems.

The problem is that my PAI AI does not show up.

I took the installer and installed a few airlines. The textures along with their entries in the aircraft.cfg files are good. The installer created a 'Project AI' folder in my main FS2004 dir, and in it are the Aircraft, airports, and flightplan text docs ready to be compiled. I compile it and a 'Traffic_PAI.bgl' file is placed in my 'Flight Simulator 9\Scenery\World\scenery' directory. Everything looks in order so I launch FS2004 and it rebuilds the database for the scenery library.(I've also disabled all other traffic.bgl files) I load up a flight at a big airport to see some cool airlines, but the airports, and skies are completely void of any type of AI aircraft.

I'm not sure what the problem is. Anyone have any ideas?

Gee, sound scarey! Is traffic slider to 100%? There's no need to remove any other traffic_xyz.bgl files as FS9 will handle as many as you have. If it's of any help my traffic_PAI.bgl is 2.03 MB in size.

Sounds like you did your homework and I have no idea why it won't work.

May I suggest creating a temp folder and Decompiling traffic_PAI.bgl and taking a look at the aircraft.txt designations (maybe add some known airplanes; i.e., default and Compile as aircraft_PAI_test.txt, airports_PAI_test.txt and flightplans_PAI_test.txt (with the new entries added: AC#X,) and renamed traffic_PAI_test.bgl, and see what happens

Yep, traffic is set at 100%. My default traffic works fine, and I used another program that compiled some random GA ai tracks that show up fine also.

I've even decompiled my default traffic bgl file and manually added the PAI aircraft and flightplans to the default text file, and then compiled it. No luck. Only default airlines are showing

Any other ideas?

I'm no expert but it might be worth taking a look at...open up your flightplans.txt file and see if the PAI flights have been added there (mine are in the lower part of the document).

Do you also install Afcad files for the airports ?
Default FS airports are limited in the number of gates.
install some afcads for the airports and you'll be seeing lots more

Already tried that. PAI traffic doesn't even show when all other traffic is disabled

Please post a screenshot of your traffic-added_PAI.bgl files (after Decompiling); e.g.,
Image

DO NOT OVERWRITE YOUR CURRENT traffic_PAI.bgl file

Bill
P.S. only the top three need to show as in this example

Seems to me that you haven't got sufficient gates installed at the airports.

Go to the afcad pages of PAI and install teh base afcad packages they have.
Then go back to the FS and check if the problems still reamins.
If so head over to the PAI forums located at www.flightsimmer.com
They will be able to help you speedy and accurate.
