AN-124 as AI

Postby CAFedm » Wed Jul 06, 2005 12:00 pm

Hi guys,

I downloaded an AN-124 (by Rob Hotchkiss), to use as AI.  The plane shows up parked on the ramp but refuses to make any movement at all.  The arrival and departure times were dialled in by adding flightplans to TTools.  Several flights were made at around the expected departure times and the aircraft stayed put.  However, when flying a few minutes past the expected departure time, the aircraft simply disappeared, and was not seen on the radar screen (it doesn't seem likely than an AN-124 could get >40nm out within a minute or two).  The main thing is, it's great to have this beast sitting on the ramp as seen here in real life, but it would be even better to see it arrive/depart! Anyone have any ideas on this, would be appreciated.

Hi CAF.........has this plane been added to the Aircraft030528.text file and given a number?........if yes, then that number aircraft would have to be incorporated into an appropriate flightplan in the FlightPlans030528.text file and compiled in Ttools...............commoner :)

Best solution

get antonov.zip from avsim.com, that includes flightplans.

For the aircraft
http://www.avsim.ru/files.phtml?search= ... minrating=

And get the An-124 by Kryzstof Malinovski (my polish is bad every day...)

Thanks, seems I forgot that the times input into the flightplans.txt document need to be switched around (read it in Lee Swordy's how-to for TTools).  Turns out I was looking for the aircraft at the wrong time of day.  Still haven't managed to get the big jet to land, but have seen it taking off several times today... :)

Many thanks Commoner - I spent a good part of yesterday (lol) trying to sort this out, as along with the accurate AN-124 flightplans, the Antonov sometimes makes multiple visits here.

Probably won't land because there are insufficient parking spaces with big enough radius. Or the runway could be too short for the air file being used.

Good to hear you got your mojo workin', Caf I use MS Traffic Toolbox SDK to view all FS9, AI traffic (in windowed mode) It's FREE.

Also, to test new traffic_new.bgl files simply make small ones using TTools; e.g.,

Hope this helps.

Radius should be set to 50m with the PAI parking manager tool.

If the thing still refuses to land, get the UNNT Traffic package from avsim.ru

Thanks All,

I set the parking size to 250 ft and also tried out widening the parking connecting link to 200 ft just to make sure the aircraft has enough room to get around.

Ahh...

I'm checking this out right now and I've found something which may also apply for you. I've set my FPlan to repeat every 24 hours. Unless you set the aircraft speed at 400kts or more, the distance between these two airports is such that there is insufficient time for a landing, turnround and takeoff. So the plane won't land, it'll just circle and fly back again.

Also, even if you do set the speed high enough, unless you set your takeoff times very carefully, you won't allow enough time on the ground after the initial landing (40 mins) for a turnround. Then again, the plane will circle and fly back again without landing.

Get a decent AFCAD for Ulyanovsk... Being the contruction plant for the Tu-204, it's the homebase of 80% of the An-124s that are used for domestic cargo flights.

Nice screens, RB

. . . and don't forget the most-common reason AI don't land (any type): the sim has not been run for a sufficient amount of time (10 minutes). Many FS9, AI aircraft go missed until FS9 "settles down".
