Hello all.

I have an airport that has 3 runways (1 asphalt & 2 grass) that all intersect and I want ATC and AI aircraft to use only the asphalt one as in real life.

I have created an AFCAD for this with the 3 runways and the taxiways between the parking area and the main runway, but the AI aircraft just taxi onto the main runway and then, instead of then taxiing along the runway to the "start position", they just takeoff from where they have joined the runway!

I have used AFCAD extensively on single runway airports, but this is driving me mad - I have checked the AFCAD help as well as this (and other) forums but cannot find an answer anywhere.

Does anyone know what is going on ?

Hi Tim, sounds like all you need to do is assign correct start positions which you can do in a trice so long as your nodes are all properly linked your taxiway paths are assigned as taxiways and your runway path as runway

No, they're all OK. Once AI join the runway, instead of then taxiing along the runway to the start position, turning around and then taking off, they just take off from where they have joined the runway.

doubt if this is of help in this situation, but what size aircraft?
In real life I have requested an "intersection takeoff" in small planes to keep the big fellas from waiting while I uselessly taxi to the end of a long strip.

Aircraft are GA + Trislanders/Islanders/Heralds - no jets due to the short length of the runway (~3000ft).

I have noticed that if I lengthen the runway to 4500ft that the aircraft DO taxi up the runway to the end and then takeoff, but if the runway is any shorter than that, they won't  ???

It's certainly got me confused...
